Why I created the method
Strands were being ignored — daily.
After more than 20 years studying fine natural hair — first through my own, my daughter's, and my mother's crowns, then over a decade behind the chair as a licensed cosmetologist — I noticed the same pattern over and over. Hair wasn’t the problem. It was being misunderstood. Products were chosen without assessing the strand. Styles were installed without considering tension. Maintenance plans were inconsistent. My specialty is fine natural hair — the least forgiving hair there is — and studying it taught me a truth that applies to every woman: care has to start with the strand.
The Duplan Method™ is the strand-aware framework I’ve refined through years of working with my own clients. Today, it serves as the foundation for the educational platform I’m building for licensed professionals, salons, and future school partnerships.
